Accessible to everyone

Accessibility

“Sveto Pravoslavie” is being developed so that the Orthodox calendar and its content can be used by as many people as possible, including people with visual, hearing, motor or cognitive disabilities. Our technical target is WCAG 2.2 Level AA; this is a development goal, not a claim of formal certification.

Reading and visual settings

From the “Accessibility” button at the top of the site you can enlarge text, enable high contrast, use a simplified light background, increase text spacing, underline links clearly, reduce motion and switch to an easier-reading mode for dyslexia. Your chosen settings are saved on the device.

Blind users and screen readers

Pages use semantic headings, main-content landmarks, visible keyboard focus and a “Skip to main content” link. Screen-reader and keyboard-only use is being checked progressively. The built-in “Read page” control is an additional aid and is not a replacement for a dedicated screen reader.

Dyslexia and easier reading

The “Dyslexia / easier reading” mode uses a clearer typeface, increased line height and spacing, a limited line width and reading-friendly alignment. It does not alter the content or theological meaning of the text.

Deaf and hard-of-hearing users

The site’s primary content is text-based. When audio or video is added, our aim is for material in which sound carries information to include reviewed captions and/or a full text transcript. Important educational material may also receive Bulgarian Sign Language versions when a properly reviewed production is available.

Keyboard and reduced motion

Interactive elements should be reachable without a mouse and should show a clearly visible focus state. The site respects the system prefers-reduced-motion setting, and visitors can additionally reduce motion and animations from the accessibility panel.

Limitations and reports

The site is under continuous development, so an individual older or newly added module may still require an accessibility correction. If you encounter a barrier, please send a specific report through the Contacts page so it can be reviewed and addressed.
