Lives of Orthodox Saints

The lives of saints, often called hagiographies, recount the witness of Christians remembered in the Church's worship and tradition. This English introduction explains how to explore their commemorations in the calendar. The detailed biographies on Sveto Pravoslavie remain available in Bulgarian while translations are prepared and checked.

What a saint's life contains

Entries may describe a person's historical setting, Christian witness, feast day, and the traditions associated with their commemoration. The same saint may be known by different forms of a name across languages. Readers should consult the full entry and its cited sources rather than treating a brief calendar summary as a complete biography.

Saints in the Bulgarian Orthodox tradition

The calendar includes saints venerated across the Orthodox Church as well as saints especially associated with Bulgarian Church history. The dates and titles used in the Bulgarian edition are checked in the context of the Church calendar.
