About the project
Sveto Pravoslavie
“Sveto Pravoslavie” is an independent information project that brings together an Orthodox calendar, lives of saints, fasting guidance, memorial Saturdays, prayers and holy places in a format designed to be easy to read and use. The project is not an official website of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church – Bulgarian Patriarchate; when we use its publications, we identify them as an official source.
How the calendar is prepared
Fixed commemorations are maintained as a multi-year calendar foundation. Movable feasts are calculated from Orthodox Pascha, while Sundays, readings and calendar notes specific to a particular year are checked against the published calendar of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church – Bulgarian Patriarchate.
Future years
When a complete official annual publication is not yet available for a future year, fixed feasts and calculable movable days remain available, but unconfirmed year-specific Sundays are marked for editorial review and are not offered for indexing until they have been verified.
Lives of saints and sources
The lives are editorial retellings prepared from verified Orthodox sources, with the sources used identified on the relevant pages. The aim is to provide readable and useful text without presenting unverified material as official.
Icons and corrections
When an external icon is used, its source is identified. Potential higher-quality replacements are reviewed editorially before publication. Any visitor may submit a specific report concerning a date, life, source, icon or fasting rule; the report is reviewed by a person and does not automatically alter published content.
