Editorial Policy and Sources
Sveto Pravoslavie aims to make its calendar and reference content useful, traceable to its sources and clearly distinguishable from unverified submissions.
Our source hierarchy
For the Church calendar and annual Scripture readings, official publications of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church – Bulgarian Patriarchate take priority. For churches and monasteries, preferred sources are the Bulgarian Patriarchate, the relevant diocese or the monastery’s own official publications. Other sources are used only when their origin is clearly identified.
Calendar and future years
Fixed feasts are maintained as a multi-year foundation, while movable observances are calculated in relation to Orthodox Pascha. If information specific to a particular year has not yet been checked against that year’s official calendar, the page is marked for editorial review and excluded from indexing until confirmed.
Lives of saints and editorial adaptation
Lives of saints are not copied mechanically from other websites. They are prepared as editorial retellings based on verified Orthodox sources, with those sources retained alongside the relevant content. Where uncertainty remains, the text is held for human review.
Icons and photographs
For external images, the source, authorship or attribution and known licence are recorded. Images are replaced only after checking their provenance and permission for use.
Automation and human oversight
Software can assist with calculations, link checks, structuring and the editorial workflow, but does not replace verification against official sources. Public submission forms create an item for editorial review and never change published content automatically.
Advertising and editorial independence
If advertising is enabled on the site, advertisers and advertising partners do not determine editorial content, source selection, calendar rules or whether a text is ready for publication. Advertising placements are treated as a separate technical layer.
Corrections
Where an inaccuracy is substantiated, the correction is made in the authoritative content source and published through the site's checked build process. Anyone can submit a specific report via the Contact page.
